MAHINDRA TREO - CELEBRATING SMALL BUT POWERFUL STORIES

We pulled off a shoot for Mahindra Treo within a day of confirmation. The vehicle is electric, hence eco friendly and has many great features. The brand wanted to celebrate their customers through their stories in three different ads. Mahindra chose individuals with impactful stories, one being a woman who was earning a meagre amount at a garment factory and turned to Treo to turn her life around. Today she is saving up for her children and a home in Bangalore city. Little but powerful stories of perseverance and change.

Here are some BTS of the shoot along with a few screen grands.

KARLE INFRA - two day madness

Anybody who has been on a film set would know that a cast of 50 odd actors along with children and their parents and the whole crew working against tight deadlines, is a mad mad shoot and this one was just that. A fun set, a crazy bunch of talent and long hours that seemed like they would never end.

Amidst all of it we celebrated our cinematographer’s birthday. One of the warmest, sweetest of hearts.

At the end of all that craze we were the happiest sleepy faces in town and to top it all the film turned out wonderfully!

Here’s us behind the scenes.

Indigo Nation & Flipkart:

16 hours of shoot, 8 hours of pre production and a crew full of energy, this is what went behind the film for Indigo Nation.

We received the script for this one evening and were told to shoot the day after. The script though simple had a lot of work involved. We had the task of getting the whole team together with less than a day to plan.

The next morning had the whole crew running around trying to figure things out. We got working immediately and brought the team together, our art team began sourcing and what came ahead was an unending 8 hours of trying to get all that we require before the market closes, the day being a Sunday. Our stylist had to custom make the outfits and all this while keeping in mind the specific colour code that was required. With a laborious day and night and crew members staying awake for more than 30 hours, the 16 hour shoot came to an end with lots of red bull and big smiles.

Break the Silence - Film Against Domestic Violence

10 cases of violence against women by husband and in-laws are reported every hour in India. This is the most reported crime of all gender based violence. What is strange about this in a society that is as close knit as ours is the fact that there always will be a spectator to gender based abuse, especially domestic violence. Neighbours hearing the screams, family members keeping mum throughout. There is an aura of silence that surrounds the institution of marriage and the right that society and religion gives a man over the woman in a family. Teaching men from young that they are meant to protect and control, the passive, submissive woman. In such a scenario, it is not just the man who thinks using coercion and violence to control a woman is normal and the norm, but it is also society that further sanctions and empowers this behaviour as the typical masculine way of treating a woman. There is no sense of guilt or shock or remorse attached to domestic violence, with an attitude such as 'it is none of my business' surrounding the issue, what is much more important than stopping it and spreading a message to victims and perpetrators, is to spread the message of 'breaking the silence' among onlookers. There is a dire need to stop domestic abuse, marital rape and give women liberty and basic rights within their personal space. It is a battle that men and women alike must come together to fight. When more and more people talk about it, know of it, there will be a general awareness of the issue and that is a starting point.  A starting point to change.

We chose the visual medium to do what we do best and send a powerful message to the world.
This film has a little piece of our heart in it.

This is how it began.

We were very keen on doing a film for Women's Day. One afternoon our Producer, Mahesh Karunakaren sat still on the couch and said, "So listen, just imagine..." and he narrated what now is the film.  Moved by the idea, Sarah approached the brand that we were closely working with on another project, equally touched by the script, the idea was brought to life in the next ten days. The brand, Strawberry Lenceria, trusted us completely with this and gave us complete creative control over the film.

This film brought so many lovely people together. A crew of 70 members who believed in the idea and wanted to see it to fruition just as much as we did. Each giving it their all. Many came up to us and said, "I've worked on so many films, I don't look forward to sharing them, as much as I'm looking forward to this."  We had employees from the brand's side help us with the extra cast.

After 10 days of work from start to delivery, the film was out and seeing the views go up every minute, having newspapers contact us, magazines and viral portals share the film we knew we had made a difference, a little ripple.

Here is what went on BTS.

How we shot and delivered a film for Nokia in 2 Days

We shot a film for Nokia 2 on the 22nd and were to deliver the film on the 24th afternoon. This was to release for Christmas.

With such short deadlines, there was too much to accomplish in very little time. Our team came together and worked day and night to deliver the film. It was one big roller coaster ride and we enjoyed the experience from start to finish. The film went live on the 25th, it garnered 1.4M views within two days and was very well received by the viewers. What we love about filmmaking more than anything else is the journey of bringing pieces together to make a whole and this was one memorable journey for us. The fact that it did well for the brand made it all worth it.

If you haven't seen the film, here it is.

BTS - BGL Shoot

Here's us shooting a film for GBL, a company that does research and undertakes social welfare projects dealing with the many issues that surround workers in different employment sectors. They aim to make the work environment better, empower women and benefit the workers and in turn the companies employing them. We loved the work that they do and the causes they stand for and decided to do something different for them. To encompass all of what they do and stand for in one video was a difficult task and so we decided to do a music video but an informative one.

We shot in beautiful spaces to make the vision a reality.
