WORKFLOW
-
PRE-PRODUCTION
Scripting — Scripting begins post client confirmation over mail. Client to release 75% advance, post which the team begins work. Director begins creative conceptualisation.
Agreement — A Master Film Agreement is shared with the client and is to be signed before the PPM date.
Advances — Once the advances are processed all departments begin work — director treatment, location scouting, casting, team meetings, storyboarding, art and set up planning, set design, lighting and camera planning, post production team meeting and briefing, music director briefing etc.
Tech Recce with all Head of Departments is held a week/few days before the PPM (Pre Production Meeting)
PPM — The Production House depending on the shoot date will pick a day for the pre production meeting. The agenda for the meeting is to present to the client all aspects of the film and how the director is envisioning it to be. The detailed plan for the shoot and a description for it will be given to the client. The PPM deck presented at the meeting will contain the following — Director’s Note, Storyboard, Look & Feel, Lighting References, Location Images, Blocks within the location that will be set up. Sketches of the layout, chosen color palette, music references, cast options, overall art references, edit note. The client is required to lock on all aspects of the film discussed at the PPM during the meeting. No changes can be made post the PPM as the Production House will begin set work and all departments will work according to the final decisions made at the PPM.
Set work begins at the location along with director briefing with all the chosen actors. Costume sourcing and art sourcing happen simultaneously.
-
Shoot — Shoot is scheduled for the dates decided upon at the start of the project, unless specified otherwise.
Voice Over — Client to pick a suitable voice for the options provided during the PPM and the VO will be recorded.
First Cut — Offline edits begin immediately post the shoot. A first cut is shared within 5 days of the shoot date. The cut is to allow the client to judge the flow of the film only. Music used on the film will be a reference track. Grade, sound design and product window will be done at the last stage. The client is to provide feedback on the narrative flow of the film only.
Second Cut — Post feedback, the edit team works on the second cut and music composition begins.
Music Composition — Second cut is sent to the client with the music. Feedback to be provided on the cut and music.
Final Cut — Feedback is accommodated and the final cut is shared with the client with final music and sound design.
Product Window — Product window assets to be shared by the client.
Grade — Final film is sent for grade. Graded frames are shared with the client in real time. Client to be available throughout the grade session for prompt feedback. In almost all cases, there is no grade feedback given as the director is the best judge of this.
Post grade a low resolution version of the final film with the Production House’s watermark is shared with the client with the product window incorporated.
Final Payment — Client to process the final payment a day before delivery.
Final Film — High resolution film is delivered to the client.
